01 Two systems, one range

A structure that is out of sight once it is finished

Alternativa’s range also includes sections for drywall construction. Suspended ceilings, with a metal substructure hung from above, open up any number of possibilities in building and fitting out interiors. These ceiling systems serve to reduce the height of a room and to cover the services in the ceiling void, and lighting, ventilation and air-conditioning systems are easily integrated into them.

Thermal insulation can also be added to a suspended ceiling, giving it the further function of improved thermal and acoustic insulation. Installing the substructure for a suspended ceiling is simple and quick.

All the sections are made from galvanised steel sheet and stiffened by embossing. Besides the standard lengths, we produce every section in lengths to the customer’s requirement.

Suspended ceilings

  • UD30
  • CD60

Suspended ceilings with a hung metal substructure meet every functional and aesthetic requirement. The two basic sections used for suspended ceilings are UD30 and CD60, together with the necessary hanging components. Besides the standard lengths, Alternativa d.o.o. produces sections in lengths to the customer’s requirement.

Partition walls and wall linings

  • 50 mm
  • 75 mm
  • 100 mm

Building drywall partitions brings a considerable saving in cost and time compared with conventional walls. They can be built as wall linings or as partitions. Combining horizontal UW and vertical CW sections forms either a lining or a partition. The cavity of the wall is ideal for running services of every kind, all the more so because the vertical CW sections carry an “H” perforation made for that purpose.

02 The load-bearing sections

Four sections carry the whole system

All the sections are made from galvanised steel sheet and stiffened by embossing. Besides the standard lengths, we produce them in lengths to the customer’s requirement.

CD60 · ceiling

CD section

The load-bearing section of a suspended ceiling. It hangs from the hanging components, and the plasterboard is fixed to it.

The web and flanges are stiffened by embossing, so at the same sheet thickness the section carries a greater load. Over longer spans it is extended lengthwise with a CD section connector.

UD30 · ceiling

UD section

The perimeter track of a suspended ceiling. It is fixed around the room, to the walls, and receives the ends of the CD sections.

It draws the line at which the ceiling ends, so it also sets the height of the whole construction.

vertical · wall

CW section

The vertical section of the wall substructure. It sits in the UW tracks at floor and ceiling and carries the plasterboard.

Its web carries an “H” perforation through which services are run, so the wall does not have to be drilled afterwards. Made in thicknesses of 50, 75 and 100 mm.

horizontal · wall

UW section

The horizontal track of the wall substructure. It is fixed to floor and ceiling and sets the line of the wall; the CW sections are then slotted into it.

The thicknesses follow the CW section — 50, 75 and 100 mm — so the wall is built up as a pair of the same size.

03 The accessories

The small parts that hold the ceiling up

Hangers, connectors and carriers by which the substructure is hung, extended and adjusted for height.

hanger

Anchor hanger

A hanger with a spring. Pressing the spring strip lets it slide along the wire, so the height of the suspended ceiling can be adjusted even after the construction is in place.

hanger

Direct hanger

A hanger for shallow drops. It is fixed straight to the ceiling, and the perforated arms are bent against the CD section and screwed to it.

connector

Cross connector

It joins the lower and upper run of CD sections at a right angle, in a two-level substructure. Folded tabs take hold of the section and keep the joint.

connector

CD section connector

It extends a CD section lengthwise. It slides into both sections and holds them in line, so the ceiling can run past the standard length of the section.

carrier

Wire with an eye

The carrier of the hanger. The eye at the end takes the fixing in the ceiling, while the straight part of the wire goes into the spring of the hanger.

carrier

Hanging wire

The same role, with a hook instead of an eye. It hooks into the fixing prepared in the ceiling, and the lower end carries the hanger.

We cut to your lengths

Besides the substructure, the range holds every kind of self-tapping screw for timber and metal, screws with plugs and hammer-in anchors for fixing the ceiling hanger — so the whole system arrives in one delivery.
