Gutter bracket
The bracket is what the gutter rests on. A strip of sheet is bent into a seat that follows the gutter profile, and the long tail is nailed to the roof deck — before the covering goes over it, so that it is out of sight afterwards. Holes run along the tail, so that each bracket is fixed at several points. A longitudinal rib keeps the strip from spreading under the weight of water and snow.

Brackets are set in a row before the covering goes on, and the height of each next one sets the fall of the gutter towards the outlet. They are made for half-round and for square gutters alike, in sizes that follow the gutter diameter.
It does not go alone
The element is part of the rainwater system — gutter, brackets, angles, outlet, bends, downpipe and clips. Open the whole system and see how they join.
